We currently manufacture a small black electronic box which fits to a new truck (programmed by make of truck), this box is fitted to the truck and interrupts the signal generated by the Ad Blue system fitted to the truck by the manufacturer. Ad Blue is an additive which is dosed in to the exhaust system to reduce emissions and is a legal requirement in the EU. This increases the fuel consumption. We have clients outside the EU who fit these to new trucks to improve the fuel consumption. The factory fitted Ad Blue system ECU is 'fooled' into thinking a dosage of fluid is NOT required at any time, therefore making the Ad Blue system unnecessary and significantly improving fuel efficiency. However, if a sensor fault occurs or the main truck ECU which monitors the Ad Blue system (has its own ECU) detects something outside its normal running parameters this can result in engine shut down and require a replacement Ad Blue system (very expensive), and also the removal of our aftermarket box.
We have gerbers, boms software and schematics for this design of box.
The Old box connects after/near the adblue ECU on the CAN H and L and
simulates the correct signal to stop the use of adblue fluid. If any adblue
sensor goes faulty on the truck the fault will display on the truck.
One of our competitors has come up with a newer system which now fools the main truck ECU into thinking that the Ad Blue system is functioning correctly see link details: [login to view URL]
This has the advantage of fooling the trucks main ECU into believing that the Ad Blue system is fully functional even if there is no Ad Blue system fitted, in addition it will automatically 'clear' any fault codes registered by the main ECU!
The New box connects to the back of the OBD plug in the truck and to which i
believe to be a different CAN H and L but not 100% sure on that. This new
box also enables you to disconnect the adblue ECU and/or sensors on the
adblue system such as the temp or NOX sensor and will not cause any fault on
the truck.
We would like to be able to reverse engineer this so we too have a variant that can do the same.

I have the experience to use CAN on avionic system. And I also worked for a similar truck engine tracking system, which can track the engine usage and locate the truck.
